Valley Home News for January 19, 2011

POSTED January 18, 2011 3:18 p.m.

Valley Home 4-H Club members are beginning to get back in action after winter vacation. Club reporter Garret Bryhni shares the following information with us. Valley Home 4-H would like to say thanks to Christina Barreto and ‘Pat from Ripon’. Pat answered Christina’s ad on Craig’s List and very generously donated two Singer Genie sewing machines to the club. This allowed Christina to become our new Sewing Project Leader.

Members are reminded to mark your calendars for February 1st and get ready to enjoy a fun filled meeting. This meeting will be the club’s Annual Valentine Box Social where the tables are always full of decorated bags and boxes filled with tasty treats and fun themed packages. This is always one of the really fun filled meetings of the year and everyone is invited to attend. Garret reminds us to be certain to bring your wallet and bid on your favorite mystery box. Members always have a lot of fun decorating the boxes of goodies to entice the bidders.

Garret tells us that the Community Service Project members will be having a Valley Home Community clean up day on Saturday, January 23rd. They will meet at the Valley Home Community Park at 8 a.m. Wear warm, old clothes and bring gloves and any tools you think you might need. Anyone who would like to get some community service for your record book is welcome to join us. Lunch will be provided afterwards at the park and enjoyed at the new picnic tables.

Word is that our Valley Home students are all busy using their artistic talents to create T-shirt designs for the school Jog-A-Thon scheduled for April. The winning design will be announced at the Valley Home PTC sponsored Annual Bunko Night.

The Valley Home PTC is planning for a great Bunko Night on Friday, March 4th and club members could use your help! They are looking for donations to put together some fantastic baskets for all of our attendees to win.

Items can be anything from dinner tickets, gas or grocery gift cards, to beauty certificates and anything in between! If you are a business owner and want to donate services, that would be great advertisement for you. If you have a family donation in mind, you can buy an item to donate or give something that you have that you were wanting to have an organization give as a gift.

This event can only be amazing with your help and please remember that we will give you a thank you letter with a receipt for tax purposes!

BEST OF ALL … If your donation is $50 or more, you will receive a dinner ticket! Please call Lisa Jones @ 840-3178 to set up a donation pick up today!
