Valley Home News for January 12, 2011

POSTED January 11, 2011 4:00 p.m.

Let’s have a big round of applause for all the workers who did such a great job putting together a wonderful breakfast that was enjoyed by all on Saturday! What a great way to start the day. We just love seeing the community come together to support our school and such a great opportunity to catch up on “Holiday Happenings” and enjoy a delicious breakfast with our Valley Home friends and neighbors. Valley Home School PTC members wish to thank all the sponsors who had business cards printed on our placemats. The group would also like to thank everyone who helped with this event, what a great team of workers! Four of our teachers were there, and two even served breakfast to everyone, we are truly a blessed ‘little school” to have such a wonderful staff. Great work to everyone involved and attending, it is YOU who help make our school thrive which allows us to continue to support our teachers and students education from year to year.

Calling all Valley Home gardeners! Is your “Green Thumb” beginning to itch? Are you longing for an opportunity to dive into a little dirt and get something growing? Too cold and too muddy to dig in the dirt you say? Well, Valley Home members of the Oakdale Garden Club have just what you need to beat the cold weather doldrums and keep your Green Thumb in good working condition. You are invited to join the members at their January 18th meeting in creating something delicious and definitely appreciated by our feathered garden friends. Be creative and try your hand at making bird-feeder-balls to hang outside your window. Not only will your feathered friends enjoy the treat, but you will have the enjoyment of an opportunity to do a little bird watching and see them enjoy your gift of life!

If you happen to have some pine cones taking up space around the house that you haven’t found a use for as yet, bring them along and join club members in making bird feeder treats. Don’t be shy, come and pick up some gardening hints, and enjoy refreshments. The Garden Club meetings are held at the Oakdale Masonic Center located at 358 N. Eighth St. and begin at 12:30 p.m.

Cold temperatures haven’t kept the new lawn area at the Valley Home Community Park from growing. All the hard work by volunteers has really paid off! Drive by and see the beautiful lawn that now adds more beauty to the area. A big round of applause is certainly due the dedicated workers who worked so hard to create a real park jewel for our community!
