The Oakdale High School Drama Department will present West Side Story under the direction of Bryan D. Mills on Friday, May 8 at 7 p.m., Saturday, May 9 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m., and Sunday, May 10 at 2 p.m. at the Oakdale High School Theater.
Tickets are $8 for adults; $5 for students. Tickets may be available at the door but seating is limited to the first 200 people on a first-come, first-serve basis.
This cast of 55 students and two adults are directed by Mills, assistant directed by Dustin Tuggle and student directed by Teagan Steele. Scott McGlasson, a CSUS music major, will be leading a 15-piece orchestra along with CSUS theater and music major Esther Mills as musical director. Choreography was created by three OHS students, Alyssa Macy, Sam Townsend, and Branden Cravalho. Anastasia Sepulveda is producing, while Mandi Williamson, Thomas Edmunson, and Jared Bradley are running the technical end of the show in lights, sound and stage managing.
West Side Story is an award-winning adaptation of the classic romantic tragedy, Romeo and Juliet, featuring the feuding families who become two warring New York City gangs, The Jets and The Sharks.
