When the Oakdale Gators rolled out the welcome mats for the Ripon Sea Lions and the Turlock Marlins, the team knew that they’d have their hands full and that proved to be the story as the Lions swam off to a convincing victory over the Gators and Marlins in June 20 action.
Oakdale received another day of solid performances from several of their top swimmers, but the depth of the Lions weighed too heavily in the squad’s recent league match.
The Gators only saw one swimmer close the meet with first-place honors as Emily Bennett dominated the 9-10 year old girl division with a perfect 21-of-21 points.
David Terwilliger made his impact on the 6-under boys group, notching 16 points in the meet for a second place finish. Tori Galloway continued her impressive season pulling in 18 points in the 7-8 year old girls action, while teammate Shelby Stender scored 19 points in the 11-12 year old girls division.
Justin Yee has made a smooth transition from the Riverbank aquatics program, notching 17 points in the 11-12 year old boys division, while Jessica Myers had a solid meet in the 15-16 girls action scoring 17 points.
The Gators saw Zac Cordoza, Rhett Harrison, Semone Mara, Jaidyn Sheetz, Sebastian Sheetz and Xena Thompson all improve their times over three separate events in Oakdale’s second place finish.
Oakdale will be back in the water June 27 when the squad travels to Turlock for the Hughson Invitational at Pitman High.
