Alton DeWayne Whitesell, 75, died Sunday, Oct. 24 in Modesto.

He was born in Blackwell, Oklahoma. He was a resident of Riverbank for 47 years.

Mr. Whitesell was a veteran.

He was a Riverbank police officer for five years, he retired from Hughson Cal Co-op.

He was a member of the Church of Christ.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara Gray Whitesell of Riverbank; daughter, Sondra (Martin) Montano of Modesto; sister, Pansy McDonald of Stockton; three grandchildren, Jeremiah, Justin and Jacob (Denise), all of Modesto; and caregiver, Dolorse Williams of Riverbank.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Thomas Jackson and Benny Whitesell.

A service will be at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 28 at Church of Christ, 434 Church St., Empire. Place of interment will be at Lakewood Memorial Park.
