Gerald Dick Shelton, 83, of Coarsegold died on Wednesday, Oct. 13 at his home near Oakdale.

He was born in Paris, Texas and moved to Fresno in 1946, where he met and married his wife Virginia.

Mr. Shelton owned and operated Shelton Drilling Contractors and relocated to Coarsegold in 1980.

He is survived by his daughters, Elizabeth (Jose) Melendez of Kissimmee, FL, Patricia Shelton of Oakdale; grandson, Michael Shaw of Oakdale; and special friends, Brad and Desiree Zinich of Coarsegold.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Virginia Shelton; and brothers, Coleman, Homer, and Harold Shelton.

Services were held Oct. 19 in Fresno.
