Maurice Alvin Travis, 75, of Arlington, Washington died Wednesday, Sept. 29.

He was born in Oakdale, the son of Maurice and Susie Travis.

Mr. Travis served in the U.S. Air Force from 1955 to 1963.

He was an automotive technician by trade and owner of Travis Automotive for 17 years.

He was a member of the Evergreen Flyfishing Club and was well known in the Pacific Northwest and an expert fly fisherman. He liked to spend time fly-tying, watching Mariners games and John Wayne movies, playing the harmonica, and flying kites.

He loved his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Gail; daughters, Debbie Smith and Andrea (Todd) Rogers; brother, Larry (Paula) Travis; sisters, Velma (Don) Smith, Mildred Jenkins, Linda Mullins; brother-in-law, Doug (Beverly) Tuengel; five grandchildren, Travis, Danielle, Brittney, Heidi and Karlie; and many nieces and nephews.

Per his request, a private gathering for remembrance will be held for family and friends.
