Oakdale High's Justina Keith, right, ...

POSTED October 5, 2010 11:47 p.m.
Justina Keith kills, Robert Gilbert goals, Jaylene Ponce putts and Ashtalia Spillman scores highlighted a barrage of wins for Oakdale High’s prep sports programs in recent league play. Following is a recap of the action.

Volleyball
It doesn’t get much better than this. Last week’s wins have set up a dynamic showdown between tied-for-first Oakdale (5-0 Valley Oak League, 10-6 overall) and Sonora (5-0, 9-6) in Oakdale territory on Thursday, Oct. 7.
The 6 p.m. contest will decide temporary VOL supremacy after the Lady Mustangs’ three-game blowout of East Union and Sonora’s 3-0 throttling of Manteca.
Both teams have yet to allow a single loss in 15 VOL games across five matches, and carry similar non-league records.
The only variation is Sonora’s 3-2 win over Summerville, who beat Oakdale 2-1 in tournament play format on Sept. 25.
Oakdale maintained its perfect VOL record with 25-12, 25-13, 26-24 wins over East Union on Thursday.
Domi Powell posted three blocks with four kills while McKenzie Willet smashed home nine kills. Justina Keith added six kills, 11 service points and eight digs while Taylor Harper popped up 11 digs and served 10 points. Setter Jackee Lee added 15 points with 25 assists and eight digs in the win.
Oakdale’s freshman team bounced Kimball in 25-13, 25-19 fashion, and ousted East Union with a pair of hard-fought 25-15, 27-25 wins. Kayla Lewis led the way vs. East Union with four kills, six digs and three aces.
Hannah Butler had three kills and eight aces over Kimball while Jessica Shatswell (four kills), Rylie Pena (three kills) and Sabrina Franciosa (three digs) delivered sharp performances as well.

Soccer
Oakdale bounced back from a shocking 2-0 loss to Weston Ranch on Sept. 27 with a 5-0 blowout of Manteca on Wednesday.
Antonio Munoz and Robert Gilbert each assisted on one goal and scored two apiece, while Austin Davies found the net as well. Oskar Nilsson and Gustavo Ruiz each managed an assist while keeper Scotty McNeill made five saves and Sam Paboojian stopped two shots on goal.
Oakdale upended first place East Union (5-1) earlier in the season, and sits 4-2 in the VOL with an 8-5-1 overall record.
The Mustangs host a vengeance game against Sierra (3-1-1) today at 6:30 p.m., under the lights.

Golf
The Mustangs continued their quest for top-two honors in the VOL with an impressive 279-329 win over Sierra at the par-36 front nine of the Oakdale Golf and Country Club on Thursday.
Jaylene Ponce carded another medalist performance in 49 strokes, and saw a superb 51-stroke day from Michelle DesRochers. Julie Bolme shot a 55 while Nikki Stastny ended in 60 strokes and Frankie Taylor in 64.
Oakdale (6-2 in the VOL) hosts undefeated East Union on Thursday.

Water Polo
Oakdale High’s varsity boys managed a 9-2 blowout over Central Catholic on Sept. 27 after three goals from Jeremy Neathery and four Michael Tripp saves. Braden Lee scored twice in the win while Cody Becker, Cory Onken, Casey Whitley and Neal Cadra also found the net.
The varsity Lady Mustangs saw five Courtney Johnson saves in an 8-1 rout of the Raiders. Ashtalia Spillman and Lauryn Judd each scored twice while Monica Rojas, Carly Kendig, Jennie Siemsen, Jessica Myers and Cassie Lee each scored once.
Oakdale hosts Turlock on Thursday at 3:30 p.m.
