This week’s news starts with the report of an incident that happened at the Valley Home School on Sunday, June 7.  At about 2:30 p.m. a young boy was riding his bicycle in the area when a man in a white truck jumped out of the truck and assaulted the boy, shoving him to the ground, and stole his bicycle. The bicycle was put it into the back of the truck and the man drove off.
The assailant was described as having a long beard and a crazy, wild hairstyle. The white truck is thought to be a late 1990s or early 2000 model. The boy was scared badly but received no major injuries. Incidents like this should not be happening and we need to make sure this will not happen again. The first way to accomplish this is to be prepared, talk to others, warn children and if something does happen report it immediately.
The incident was reported to the sheriff’s department and a sergeant has been assigned to investigate the matter.  Lieutenant Gharat will make a presentation at the Wednesday, June 17 meeting of the Valley Home MAC and will tell residents what progress has been achieved in this matter. In addition, he will explain what residents can do to prevent a reoccurrence of this type of incident. Everyone should be interested in what the Lieutenant has to say.  Be there!
As previously mentioned, the regular monthly meeting of the Valley Home MAC is scheduled for this evening at 6:30 p.m. in the Harold Pope School Library, 4600 Texas Ave. in Valley Home.  Reports are scheduled from the Sheriff’s Department, the California Highway Patrol, other county offices, Valley Home Joint School District, Oakdale Rural Fire Protection, and Joe Perez reminding everyone of the importance of our Valley Home Neighborhood Watch Program.
A reminder is made that the period when candidates can apply for a nomination for one of the three 4-year terms on the Valley Home Municipal Advisory Council (MAC) is between July 13th and August 7th. The election will be at the regular one held in November.
Just a reminder that on Wednesday, June 17 at 7 p.m. there will be a meeting of the 4-H Rabbit Group. Members are reminded to keep the rabbits cool during transport with a frozen water bottle. For questions, call Tammie at 847-6803.
The happy sounds of birthday festivities will fill the air in Valley Home this week beginning with 4-H project leader, Diane Hougland who celebrated her special day on Monday. Samantha Jones celebrated a birthday on Tuesday, with Velma Klose, Betty Graham and Laura Schultz sharing June 17 birthdays. Karen Bianchi will enjoy birthday festivities on June 18. Many happy returns of the day to all!
Loads of Happy Anniversary wishes to Richard and Angel Willett who celebrated a wedding anniversary on Monday from all their Valley Home friends!
One last reminder — if you don’t tell me about it, how will it get into the Valley Home News?  Send the information to or call 847-5822.
