We are delighted to introduce Valley Home 4-H member, Garret Bryhni in this week’s column as the club reporter for the 2010-2011 4-H year. The Valley Home 4-H Club meeting will be held on Tuesday, October 5, at 7p.m. at the Missionary Baptist Church in Valley Home. Garret says “If you missed last month’s sign-up meeting, you can still sign-up at this meeting. Jenna Heaton is the president and Halley is the Bug editor this year. Come and check out all the great projects we have this year, and find out what kinds of fun events we have in store for members and their families for the up-coming year!”

Our Red Hat “Queen Mum” Bonnie Bianchi will hold court with our Oakdale’s Fun Lovin’ Ladies at Perko’s Café on Wednesday, October 6th in Riverbank this month. Members will meet at 11:00 a.m. for lunch.  Our “Queen Mum” Bonnie offers this reminder to members to please call Cookie at 847-0761 if you need to cancel or have not made your reservation, as she needs to confirm with the restaurant how many to expect.

Time to get out your calendars and circle Saturday, October 23rd and plan to attend the Annual Valley Home Annual Harvest Festival! Lots of fun in store for everyone at the festival! The event being held at the gym, begins at 4 p.m. and lasts until 8 p.m. A big sign located on the school property at the corner of Pioneer Road and Lone Tree Road invites students to dress up and enter the “Kids” costume contest, try your hand at new games being offered this year, win prizes that are being offered, a Silent Auction, check out the amazing “Class Baskets,” watch the Silly String artists at work, and check out those brave enough to visit the Dunk Tank, and in addition to all of the above there will be a Picture Booth, Tattoos, Face Painting, Sack Races and more. In addition, the winners of the scarecrow contest which are built and displayed at the home of the exhibitors and judged prior to the festival will be announced. Lots of fun in store for everyone! What more could anyone ask for? How about a delicious meal being provided by Ferrarese’s Deli?

Glenn & Laura Burghardt joined in a double birthday celebration on Sunday as their daughter Kathy Burghardt-Cobb, who had a birthday on the 13th shared the day with their grandson Mitchell Cobb whose birthday was that day. The celebration was held at John’s Incredible Pizza in Modesto. Joining the party were three of Mitchell’s school friends from Merced and his sister Kate Burghardt. Happy Birthday Greetings are sent to the two of them.
