Karl Henry Ohe, 81, died Sunday, Aug. 8 at Doctors Medical Center.

He was a native of Oakland. He lived in the Oakdale/Knights Ferry area for 70 years.

He attended Oakdale High School and was a player on the 1947 VOL Champion football team and was also a pitcher on a semi-pro minor league baseball team.

During high school, he and his father (John) started the Ohe Sand and Gravel family business. He left the business for several years, fulfilling his U.S. Army military duties in Korea.

Mr. Ohe returned home after completion of his military duties where he met and married his wife Doris (Driver).

He owned Ohe Sand & Gravel for 63 years.

His hobbies included fishing, hunting, dancing, playing music, and spending time with family to whom he was devoted.

He had a wonderful sense of humor and refreshing wit and was known amongst those who knew him as “the master of one-liners.”

He is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Doris (Driver) Ohe of Oakdale; children, Diane Snow of Oakdale, Lisa (Paul) Bliven of Modesto, Michael (Jonna) Ohe of Knights Ferry; sister, Raquel (Jerry) Beatty of Colorado; brother, John (Lorrine) Ohe of Fresno; and six grandchildren, Bill Snow, Joseph Snow, Jessica Sow, Kallie Bliven, Brendt Ohe, MaKenzie Ohe.

Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 15 at Oakdale Memorial Chapel. A funeral will be at 10 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 16 at Community United Methodist Church, Oakdale. Burial will be at Knights Ferry Cemetery.
