Knights Ferry News For July 14, 2010

The Knights Ferry General Store was broken into at 3 a.m. The alarm went off and they got nothing, but Rick and Glenda have the bill to fix the door! Everybody needs to keep on top of activities around town and report anything suspicious.*****Welcome to the world Colton Redden. He was born May 24th to Scott and Kristie Redden in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He came into the world two months early but is catching up fast. Grandma Nancy has visited him twice. Scott is in the Army and Kristie is staying with her parents in Pittsburgh.*****Birthday greetings for the month of July go out to: Gordon Griesner, Kathy Mangante, Diane Boyer, Bonnie Witzke, Kay Martinelli, Vira Segni, Beverly Brunker, Tasha Sweet, Shasta Duckworth, Shae Serpa, John Simons, Joey Miller, Riley Miller, Sue Barrett, Horst Kaiser, Jean Naccarato, Kylea Coston, George Pineda, Daniel Lubeck, Devin Odom, Kaitlin Burke, Chris Roek, Kaitlin Van Ryn, Lina Nilsson, Darla Moon, Maureen McKibban, Fury Mancuso and Charissa Humble.*****Condolences go out to Helen Smith and family on the death of her son, Scott. A Celebration of Life will be held on July 24th at the River’s Edge in the Ferry from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.*****The Johnson brothers, Will and Sam, took a cross-country trip “4 Wheels to Mobile” from June 29th to July 6th. They made stops in Death Valley, Hoover Dam, the Narrow Gauge Railroad in Durango, Colorado, took in the fireworks on the 4th in Oklahoma City, visited family in Arkansas and arrived in Mobile, Alabama on July 6th. Mobile is Will’s new home as he is stationed there. Sam flew back to California on the 7th. It has been a long time since the boys were able to be together. *****Condolences go out to the Feichter family on the death of Wanda Feichter. She leaves her husband George, children Patti Sandoval (Andy), Jeff Shearer (Lisa), Suzanne Holton, Steve Feichter (Linda), Sheryl Mack (Mike), Paul Feichter (Gail), and Ric Feichter (Wendy) and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews and six siblings. Services were held Monday at the Oak Grove Cemetery.*****Maureen McKibban was the recipient of the “Birthday Song” at the 50’s Roadhouse last Wednesday. She also brought her 5-month-old granddaughter, Emma, (from Boston) to dinner. Maureen and Michael were babysitting Emma, her first time in the Ferry.*****At the Knights Ferry School Board meeting, Superintendent/Principal Cheryl Griffiths told of the interviews for the open position to teach the Junior High. There were 81 applicants and 8 were interviewed. Now it is decision time.*****The Knights Ferry Ice Cream Parlor is open Friday, Saturday and Sunday from noon to 5 p.m. Great way to cool down on these hot days.
