New Program At Stan State

Stanislaus State (CSU Stanislaus) in Turlock has received a grant from California Humanities to stage ‘Native Voices: Stories from the Indian Boarding School,’ a live performance by the contemporary theatre group Native Voices. Based on first-person narratives, videos, and historical documents, this collection of stories depicts the reality and repercussions of the American Indian boarding school system from the late 1800s to the present whose motto was “Kill the Indian and save the man.” The performances are Sept. 20 in Modesto and Sept. 21 on the Stan State campus.
