Local 4-H Club Members Win At State Field Day

Several members from Oakdale’s Sierra and River Oaks 4-H clubs competed in Davis recently at the State Field Day for the Fashion Revue and Presentation Day. Stanislaus County had five participants in the Fashion Revue, three representing Sierra 4-H and two representing River Oaks 4-H. Each of them won awards at the county and regional contests in order to advance to the state level.

Winners for each category in the Fashion Revue — Traditional, Embellished, Vest Challenge, Purchased, and Recycled — received an embellished garment bag with the state event’s logo.

The 4-H State Field Day consisted of several activities including the State Fashion Revue, State Presentations, judging events, community service activities, a photography contest, and craft activities.

Listed below are the results of how the Oakdale area 4-Hers placed at the state event.

Sierra 4-H: Melissa Thompson, state winner for Vest Challenge; Natalie Thompson, state medalist for Purchased; Emily Pinheiro, state medalist for Purchased.

River Oaks 4-H: Matthew Black, state medalist for Vest Challenge; Maya Lyda, state medalist for Traditional.

Listed below are the results for local 4-Hers at the Stanislaus County 4-H Fashion Revue held earlier in May.

Traditional category (each member made their outfit): Tiffany Thompson, senior winner; Melissa Thompson, intermediate winner; Natalie Thompson, junior winner; Denise Thompson, intermediate alternate; Maya Lyda, junior alternate.

Vest Challenge (each member started with the same pattern and created a vest): Melissa Thompson, intermediate winner; Matthew Black, junior winner; Kendra Huffman, junior alternate; Natalie Thompson, blue medalist.

Purchased category: Tiffany Thompson, senior winner; Melissa Thompson, intermediate winner; Natalie Thompson, junior winner; Denise Thompson, intermediate alternate.
