Water protectors will gather on Friday, March 10 in support of Standing Rock/Mni Waconi/Water is Life. The movement is in opposition to the Army Corps of Engineers decision to forego the environmental impact statement (EIS) study and allow DAPL to build the pipeline under the only water source for the Sioux tribe and millions of others downstream of the Lake Oahe Reservoir, part of the Missouri River. The Standing Rock Sioux, Native Nations of the United States and their allies are organizing a demonstration in Washington D.C on March 10. Locally, supporters will gather at the Knights Ferry Covered Bridge, 17968 Covered Bridge Road, at 1 p.m. on Friday, March 10 for the rally.

Saint Matthias Anglican Church will host Adam & Eve & Evolution from March 8 through April 8. This is a five-week survey of Christian perspectives on scientific findings and interpreting Genesis 1-3. Participants may choose class times of either Wednesdays at 6:30 p.m. or Saturdays at 9:30 a.m. Participants may register at saintmatthiasoakdale.com or call 847-2012.

Soroptimist International of Oakdale will host its annual Motor Madness event on Saturday, March 25 at Gene Bianchi Community Center, 110 S. Second Ave., Oakdale. The event begins at 6:30 p.m. and will include beer, wine, soft drinks and appetizers. Raffle tickets are $100 each and cover admission for two adults to the event. The Knights Ferry Museum in partnership with the Army Corps of Engineers presents the 27th Annual Gold Country Peddlers Faire. The event will be hosted on Sunday, April 23 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The free event host vendors offering antiques, handmade crafts and art. The Healthy Aging and Association will host “Age With Movement,” on Friday May 5. This free event celebrates Older Americans Month. The free festivities include vendor booths, balance and fitness testing, blood pressure check and fun ways to get moving. Registration begins at 7:30 a.m. Booths are open from 8 a.m. to noon.
