Scott P. Wellman, 59, died peacefully on April 11 at his Oakdale home.

He was born to Karl and Hope Wellman in Oakland. He lived in Lafayette, Dixon, Rio Vista, and Gustine. He graduated from Gustine High and attended Columbia JC and graduated from Merced JC.

Mr. Wellman lived in Gustine for 30 years and worked at Ingomar Plastic Pipe, then moved to Oakdale in 1995 and worked at AZCO in Stockton for the last 16 years.

He will be remembered as a loving husband and father who enjoyed a wide circle of family and close friends. He loved playing his guitar and played music for 45 years with various rock and roll bands including Sound Dynasty, Magnolia, McKenzie, Josie Cutter Band, Laurel Street Band, and Sneeky Pete.

He enjoyed restoring his ’40 Chevy and was an avid sports fan especially for the San Francisco 49ers and Giants, the Golden State Warriors and Cal Bears. He loved snow skiing, camping (especially the Live Oak Music Festival), band gigs at the Westside Theater, traveling with his wife, and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife, Deborah; son, Brandon; stepdaughter, Marissa; brothers, Wayne and David; niece, Nancie; and nephews, Patrick and Daniel.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Karl and Hope Wellman.

A celebration of life and music is planned for Saturday, June 5 at the Westside Theater in Newman. A memorial service was held April 17 at Living Hope Christian Fellowship.

In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Living Hope Christian Fellowship; or to the Westside Theater in Newman.
