Joe George, 96, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, April 8.

Mr. George was a loving father, grandfather and great grandfather and friend. He was a long time resident of Escalon, where he was a farmer and operated a successful trucking business. He was a charter member of the Escalon Lions Club and one of the founders of the Escalon Little League.

He loved being a friend and teacher to his grandchildren and spending time in Pinecrest with family. He was a regular visitor of the Escalon Historical Society, a faithful member of St Patrick’s church and most of all enjoyed his regular card nights with friends.

Survivors include his children, Doug George and his wife Claudia of Escalon, Stan George and his wife Rosella of Clovis, and Kathy Riesenbeck and her husband Ron of Oakdale; grandchildren Mark George, Tracy Ogata, Kristin Dawson, Erin Jordahl, Lea Bateman, Jeremy Gentry-George, Noah Gentry-George, Gabriel Gentry-George; and eight great-grandchildren.

Visitation was Sunday, April 11 at Deegan Funeral Chapel in Escalon.

Rosary-Mass was on Monday, April 12 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Escalon. Burial was private for his family.
