The spaghetti dinner will be March 20th at the clubhouse at 5:00p.m. after the last Civil War battle.

The Civil War will come to the Ferry March 20 and 21. The American Civil Was Association sponsors this. It is a step back in time to enjoy the living history of the lives of the soldiers, women and children. The main battles are at 1:00p.m. and 4:00p.m. on Saturday and 11:00a.m. and 2:00p.m. on Sunday. Mary Morris celebrated her 101st birthday with dinner with family and friends at the 50’s Roadhouse last Wednesday. Mary is Carol Davis’s mother-in-law, Linda Morris’s mother-in-law and Ken Morris’s mother. All enjoyed the festive cake after dinner.

Knights Ferry School will hold Kindergarten registration on Thursday, March 4th. If you know anyone desiring to send their child to Knights Ferry School, contact the school at 881-3382.

Last Thursday was the MAC meeting. The highway patrol reported it has been very quiet in the Ferry but Highway 108/120 has a speeding problem. Also, they have arrested drunk drivers on the highway, mostly going up the hill. Their staff numbers are up and many patrolmen are out and about. Aaron Farnon, Community Development Manager from Stanislaus County Planning Department spoke on funds available to help low income people but the important fact is to fill out the census report so more funding can become available. Christy Amaral from the County reported on some funding from the American Recoveries Investment (stimulus funding) that went to some County Departments. Dolly Haskell has turned in her papers to be on the MAC and will be appointed by the Board of Supervisors to fill the vacant seat. The Knights Ferry Community Church got approval to add on to the youth building and their retaining wall is progressing, to be overlaid with sandstone.

Knights Ferry School upper grades went to Gratton School to play basketball and all had a good time.

Sunday, March 7th is Breakfast Sunday in the Ferry. Ham, eggs, pancakes coffee and juice for only $5.00 at the Odd Fellows Hall on Main Street. The blossoms are out, the lambs gamboling, turkeys strutting and daffodils blooming so it is a pretty drive to the Ferry.

Don’t forget the School’s Silent/Live Auction and Dinner on March 27th. Tickets are on sale now at the school. This is an important fundraiser for the children’s education plus the evening is a lot of fun!
