The play recounts the experiences of the men and women of Salem, Mass. in 1692 during the witch hunt hysteria. It is the story of a group of young girls who began accusing townspeople of being witches, and the subsequent trials that ensue. People have prejudices and various things to hide, and their own personal lives greatly influence who is accused and who will become the accuser.
The terror that fills the lives of the people is perilous and constant. Neighbors are turning in neighbors, friends betraying one another; no person’s reputation is safe in Salem during this witch hunt.
