Knights Ferry was saddened to learn of the death of Glenda Maisel last Wednesday. Glenda and Rick ran the General Store for many years. Glenda ran her Back Door Deli and her Taco Soup will be missed! She was memorialized with a candlelight vigil at the Deli. Her husband Rick, parents Glen and Virginia Langum, and sisters Donna and Debbie and brother Gary survive Glenda. Her Memorial Service will be Thursday, January 29th at 10:00 at the Trinity Church in Escalon. Rest in Peace Glenda.

At the M.A.C. meeting last Thursday, Carol Davis presented the parade permit for the Peddler’s Faire for the board to sign. The permit is needed because a street will be closed April 26th. Kristin Doud from the Stanislaus County Planning Department presented the results of the County Input Analysis. The top three concerns in the county are: shelter for the homeless along with services to help the homeless move into permanent housing, establishing special needs housing for seniors, and ensuring children that grow up in Stanislaus County can afford to live in Stanislaus County.

David Voortman is home recovering from surgery on his ankle. He will be housebound for a while. Before surgery he and Heather (and helpers) repainted the Ice Cream Parlor tables and chairs and spruced things up for their January opening. They are open Friday, Saturday and Sunday from noon to 5:00 p.m. (Winter hours). The Visitors Center and MADE are open at these times also. The Voortmans enjoyed the holiday vacation in Montana with the Wes Banks family.
