News from school...September is a busy month for Valley Home School. Excitement is in the air as students prepare for volleyball and football season. It’s a sure sign fall is just around the corner when you see these student athletes practicing and sharpening their skills! This year Valley Home School Parent Teacher Club is purchasing all new uniforms for our athletes. What a great way to show how proud we are of our students! We would like to invite our community to come to the games and support your Valley Home kids. A local Valley Home resident called to voice his concern after witnessing water going for seven days straight on a newly planted almond orchard. He lives at the south end of Valley Home and is very concerned since so many wells in the area are experiencing problems. We appreciate his concern.

Speaking of wells, St. John’s Lutheran Church had their yard sale this past weekend, to help with their well. It was a wonderful success. Look for more fundraisers soon! It is so important to support or hometown, and especially our community churches.

Fourth through eighth grade science teacher, Holly Benkula is looking for volunteers to teach 30 minute enrichment classes to four to eight top Hawk students on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons at 2 p.m. while other students get additional help or complete their homework with the teachers. Enrichment classes are simply brief ‘electives’ on subjects/activities which can enhance the learning environment and motivate the students to achieve. If you can help, or know someone who can help, please email Holly at hbenkula@vhjsd.k12.ca.us.
