William “Bill” Bloomingcamp, 88, of Oakdale, died Thursday, Aug. 7, 2014 at the Alexander Cohen Hospice House, surrounded by the family, following a long illness.

Bill was born in Modesto. He served in the U.S. Navy, WWII in the Pacific. He attended Modesto Junior College earning his A.A. degree. After graduation, he partnered with his father, William, on the Oakdale Ranch raising turkeys. He also raised cattle, hogs and sheep. Later, he transitioned the Bloomingcamp Ranch to trees of almonds, apples and walnuts. He built all the buildings on the ranch with only hand tools and also built the pond and park with his wife, Joy. The Bloomingcamp Bake Shop and Cider Works came next.

Bill was a devoted and much loved father, grandfather, great grandfather and valued friend.

Survivors include his wife, Joy; daughter Coni Bloomingcamp-Steinberg and son-in-law Mat Steinberg and Kathy Abell; sons, Cary and Chris Ward; grandchildren Jennifer (Ward) Kindorf, Lynae (Ward) Zapien and husband Homero, Nicole (Ward) Campbell and husband Cpl. James Campbell (US Marines), Cpl. C.J. Ward (US Marines), Mila Steinberg and William Steinberg; great-grandchildren Kyla Kindorf, Gavin Sarabia, Ryland Kindorf, and Isabelle Joy Campbell.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at the Oakdale Community Christian Reformed Church on West F Street, Oakdale, at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 15.

Burial will be at Burwood Cemetery on River Road at 2 p.m.

Favored charities are Alexander Cohen Hospice House, Hughson and the Oakdale Senior Citizens Center, Oakdale.
