Our Red Hat Queen, Bonny Bianchi reports that members of Oakdale’s Fun Lovin’ Ladies welcomed in the New Year with a meeting and lunch at Café Bravo in Oakdale on January 6th. Plans are already in the works to visit Bocelli’s Restaurant (Old Garlic House) for their second meeting of the New Year on February 3rd. Queen Bonny offers this reminder that if you need to cancel or have not made your reservation to attend a meeting, please call Gail (Cookie) at 847-0761 as we need to confirm with the restaurant as to how many ladies to expect.

We are happy to report that work has been continuing on the site for the Valley Home Community Center Park. Sharon Hofmann tells us that she has a report that electrical work is now in the trench and has been okayed by PG&E, so we will now have power and water! Yippee! There has been some tractor work going on, just to clean up and level the grounds in preparation for landscaping. Oakdale Garden Club is going to donate four oak trees to be planted on the grounds. If anyone would like to donate additional trees for the park, please let committee members know. Please drive by and give your encouragement to the progress happening on the corner of Pioneer and Minnesota.

Valley Home PTC members are looking forward to another busy school year. We have received word that the club’s Annual Jog-A-Thon Shirt Contest to design an emblem to be printed on the shirt is now under way. The rules are simple: each drawing must be on an 8 1/2x11” piece of white paper and have no more than 5 colors, the theme and drawing are your choice. Student’s name and class must be printed on the reverse side to keep judging fair. Any drawings turned in that do not comply with the rules will be posted, but are not able to be judged. Deadline for completed drawings is on February 19th and can be turned into your class or the office PTC drop box. Judging will be held at the second annual Bunko Night, scheduled for March 12th in the MPR/Gym. Anyone wishing to help on March 12th or need tickets please call Lisa Jones at 840-3178.

Valley Home 4-H’ers Cody Bartholomew and others attended the Stanislaus county Poultry Field Day. They learned the correct method for showing their poultry at the county fair. Each young person representing our Valley Home 4-H and our community did very well.

Valley Home 4-H would like everyone to start thinking about the club’s Annual   Valentine Box Social, which will be held in February. The 4-H’ers always have a lot of fun creating tempting goodies and placing them in festively wrapped boxes, which are then held up for bidding by members and parents. The Social is always a fun night for all as they attempt to figure out what tasty delights are hidden in the boxes and who the lucky winner of the box will be.

We all wish Beci Mullins a very Happy Birthday today, January 13, from all your family and friends! Linda Reeves celebrated a birthday on January 10. Happy birthday from all your Valley Home friends!

We offer an early Happy Birthday wish from all her Valley Home friends to Winnie Mullins who will be celebrating her special day on Monday, January 18th!

Next Wednesday evening, the Valley Home MAC will resume its monthly meetings at 6:30 p.m. at the Valley Home School library. Residents are urged to mark their calendar and plan to attend this meeting and welcome two new council members – Sharon Hofmann and Nancy Osmundson.
