This week we highlight a very important person who is active in both Valley Home and Escalon. This young man is Bryce McKenzie! Bryce attends Valley Home School and is a very busy guy. He carries a high grade point average and attends school basketball and football games as the Hawk. The Hawk is the school mascot and Bryce loves to create school spirit. His school pride is contagious and the crowd is always delighted to see Bryce show up as the Hawk. Way to go Bryce! This summer Bryce will be attending the Stanislaus County Fair and will be working in the Farmyard Experience. Bryce we are all so proud of you and your enthusiasm. Keep up the great attitude!

Happy birthday to Valley Home seventh grader Luis, who celebrated his birthday on the fourth of July. Many happy returns of the day to you Luis!

Exciting news...Our Valley Home National Night Out celebration is coming up the first Tuesday in August. That means it is time to start making plans for this wonderful event. National Night Out is a special night celebrated across the whole country. It is a night where community members come together and tell crime to go away! Neighbors are encouraged to come out and meet together at our community park where we can visit and enjoy each other’s company. We will share a delicious potluck dinner, frosty cold drinks, and yummy summertime desserts! Last year we enjoyed a special visit from Supervisor Bill O’Brien, a wonderful visit with our CHP Officer Chuck Leon and his delightful family, and a tremendously fun time with our hard working firefighters Adam French and Ross Ardis. The evening ended with the most amazing sight...with the sun setting in a rustic blaze of color, and dusk settling in, lights suddenly lit up the evening sky...the unmistakable roar of a crime fighting helicopter coming in for a landing! As young and old alike waved and shouted a welcome, Stanislaus County Sheriff Adam Christianson stepped off the helicopter and waved a warm greeting to all!

It was indeed a special evening and we hope all of you will make plans to attend this year. The next MAC meeting will include making plans for this year’s National Night Out celebration in Valley Home.

More exciting news...Our annual Valley Home Park yard sale is rapidly approaching. The huge sale will be held on August 9th. Once again we will be asking our community to help out our park with donations to the sale. You may call Sharon at 209-969-4212 and arrangements can be made to drop off items or we will be happy to pick them up. 100 percent of all proceeds go toward maintaining our park (PG&E, taxes, insurance, etc.). All donations are tax deductible also.

If any of you are interested in serving on the park board or would like to help with maintaining the park, your help would be much appreciated. Please contact Winnie at 209-985-5233. You may find us on Facebook at Valley Home Community Park.

Jennifer Mount reports that her beautiful Boston Terrier “Lucy” escaped and is missing. The family is worried sick and would greatly appreciate everyone keeping an eye out for Lucy. Please call Jennifer at 209-480-4951 if you have any information. Lucy is black and white with a little brindle. She is wearing a zebra collar and she does have a microchip.

As always you can reach me at 209-985-5233 or at Until next time “Happy trails to all...”
