Valley Home 4-H member Jenna Heaton and Garrett and Justin Martin traveled to the Arizona National Livestock Show this past week to show their animals. We received word that all three had an exciting time and did great showing of their animals and representing our Valley Home community very well. Congratulations to all three young people! Valley Home is proud of you!
As the old year ends and a new one begins, we take this opportunity to offer a big round of applause to Valley Home Parent Teacher club president, Lisa Jones and all her helpers for all their hard work throughout the past year. We offer a big Thank You!
Word has come to us that Karen Monschein is busy working on a new project. It seems that Karen, in addition to being a smart, funny and beautiful person, is also quite the mechanic! Way to go Karen!
We have learned that our Valley Home 4-H members will be starting a new community service project this month. We are all looking forward to their efforts. We will be hearing more about their project after their January meeting and will report the information to our readers.
We offer a special thank you to T.J. Verdegaal and Carly Thomason for the beautiful Community Christmas Basket Project that the two chaired in December. Great Job!
We understand that Cooper Bartholomew turned 3 years old at the stroke of midnight on New Years. His family, including big brother, Cody and his cousin Jenna celebrated with confetti, cake and a sparkling cider toast to young Cooper on his special day!
Valley Home School P.T.C. president, Lisa Jones and members of the parent’s group are all rested up from the Holiday activities and are glad to be returning to school this week! All enjoyed a great time with wonderful memories made through the Christmas break. Want to find out what the group has planned for the rest of the school year? Lisa invites you to come and join P.T.C. members tomorrow, January 7th at the Texas Avenue campus at 3 p.m. to hear all the plans! We will see you there!
Lisa offers a big thank you to everyone who donated items in 2009 for our various functions and food drives and says we are so appreciative and could not do it without your help, great team work from everyone, Thank you!
The Valley Home Community Center Park has moved ahead another step with the installation of the electric line from the newly installed power pole near the pavilion to the well and historic sphere-shaped water tank. In addition, the installation of four ballards around the well and water tank achieved another check off on the list of items to accomplish before the next inspection. After the inspection the trench for the electric line will be filled in and work will begin on another segment of the project.
Residents are reminded that the Valley Home Community Center board of directors still has an unfilled vacancy and that someone who has an interest in serving on the board and assisting with the establishment of the community’s memorial park can contact me at  HYPERLINK "" or 847-5822 and I will forward your name and phone number to the board. Think about it.
