POSTED October 15, 2013 4:51 p.m.

Harriett “Jane” (Ramey) Horn, 76, died Thursday, Oct. 3 at the Hospice Austin Christopher House.

She was born in Ft. Smith, Ark., a daughter of the late Elsie and Clyde Ramey. She grew up in Oakdale, where she graduated from Oakdale Union High School in 1955.

She joined the Navy in 1957, where she served her country for two years.

She started working for Lockheed Missile and Space Company in Sunnyvale, where she became one of the first female Professional Engineers in Quality Engineering. She transferred to the Austin, Texas facility in 1982, where she retired after 34 years with the company.

Mrs. Horn was the most thoughtful and caring friend, anyone could have and would drop everything to be there for them. Her faith ran very deep, her love of the church and its parishioners was demonstrated by the hours she volunteered by teaching Vacation Bible School and singing in the church choir.

What she is most remembered for is her deep love of her family. Family to her was everything and she cherished each and every one of them. Always remembering every birthday, holiday and anniversary and never forgot to tell each one of them how much she loved them. She was the world’s best wife, mom, grandma and great grandma, and will be dearly missed. She was a joy and inspiration to all who knew her.

She is survived by her loving husband, Leonard Horn; her daughters, Kristi Ulloa (Brian) Conley, Valerie Ulloa (Jeff) Azevedo, all of California, Ronnie Palmer of Kansas; sister, Dodie Mathews; grandchildren, Lt. Commander Richard (Kelly) Ulloa, Chanayle (Nick) Glowacki, Drew Azevedo, and Bailey, Kamryn and Kelsey Ulloa Conley; great-grandchildren, Zack and Evan Ulloa; and nieces Nancy Ritts and Pamela Scott.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Elsie and Clyde Ramey; and sister, Bobbie Jean Moon.

A mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 24 at St. Martins de Porres Catholic Church, 26160 Ranch Road 12, Dripping Springs, Texas, with reception to follow.
