Valley Home News Week of October 9, 2013

POSTED October 9, 2013 11:41 a.m.

Glenn and Laura Burghardt’s grandson Ryan Burghardt was home this weekend for a very special occasion. Art and Tami Tharpe held their annual lobster feed and Ryan brought good friend Anna Laura to meet Tami. Tami was Ryan’s first and second grade teacher and has had a tremendous influence on Ryan’s life. Art and Tami host this spectacular gathering every year with this year being a near record for folks attending! We’re told the pig came out of the ground just perfect and the lobster was delicious. Wow, what a party! We also want to congratulate Ryan on his graduation from the University Of The Pacific. Valley Home is so proud of you, Ryan.

The students at Valley Home School are getting excited as the date approaches for the heart pounding, high flying, BMX expedition on October 17 at the school. The Valley Home Parent Teacher club is sponsoring the event for the students.

The Parent Teacher Club is also busy organizing their big fall fundraiser “The Fall Harvest Festival.” This year there will be lots of exciting things to do and see. Some of the highlights will be live music, race car, pumpkin patch, silent auction, hay rides, haunted cemetery, dummy roping, antique buggies, pie eating contest, delicious food, tons of games, candy apple red hot motorcycle, sno cones, cotton candy, and hot buttered popcorn. This year we will be sharing a Valley Home slide show at approximately 7:30 p.m., if anyone has pictures they would like to share please call Melissa Bartholomew at 605-4843. Pictures must be in on or before October 16th. Be sure to put your name on back of pictures. Everyone is invited to enter the Giant Pumpkin contest, or the Carved or Decorated Pumpkin contest. (Pumpkins must be brought from home already carved or decorated). The fun will begin at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday October 26th and goes until 9:00 p.m.

A sure sign that it is Autumn in Valley Home is when Fall harvest scarecrows start appearing in fields and gardens around the community. Entries must be turned in by Wednesday October 16th. Entries will be judged from the road the weekend of October 19-20.
