Five-year-old Tristan McCarthy was float-fishing down the Stanislaus River when he caught a fish, a really big fish. It was a 10-pound Striper! His first catch and was he proud and that is no fish story!

Tuesday’s movie night was well attended. The tennis court was full of kids and adults, munching popcorn and enjoying “The Castaways”. It was a beautiful evening for a movie.

Barbara Shook was the recipient of the “Birthday Song” at the 50’s Roadhouse last Wednesday.

Sunday was “Kids Day” at the River’s Edge, complete with bounce house. The children were having a bouncing good time.

At the last meeting of the Knights Ferry School Board, the board passed the job description of Classified Employees, passed the resolution to employ a CalPERS retiree, Bev Noe, to help part time on certain documents, approved the Superintendent/Principal contract and approved the Consolidated Applications for 2012 to 2014 as presented. New secretary/administrative assistant Ms. Arijaan Bulk got a “Spot On” for her first minutes of last meeting. The Custodian Lynn Duckworth reported the trailer she pulls behind the mower had been stolen. The next meeting will be August 8th.

People do different things when they retire (I do this column) and some people don’t know what they will do. Barbara Shook likes to decorate and she now has a space in Remember When Again in Oakdale and is refurbishing antiques. She and Gary hit the estate sales, friends and neighbors for their “finds” to put on the market. Barbara refinishes some pieces and others just need some cleaning. She is having a great time in her retirement!
