Valley Home PTC president Lisa Jones reminds us that “We are pre-selling Pancake Breakfast tickets children up to 12 are $3 and adults are $6. This breakfast is going to be great: pancakes, sausage and bacon, eggs, milk, juice, water and coffee. Saturday, November 14th 6-11 a.m. Don’t miss out and get your tickets today!” What a nice way to start the day!

Wow! Valley Home mothers can enjoy the whole day off from cooking meals! Valley Home 4-H is hosting a Spaghetti Dinner that same evening, November 14, at the Valley Home School Gym from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. The dinner is being held to raise funds for the Sheriff K-9 program. All profits are going to this very worthwhile program. All are welcome and the 4-H’ers would be very appreciative of your support. Along with dinner ($7 adults/$6 children) they will be having a silent auction of some great items! Tickets can be purchased at the door!

Valley Home School is celebrating Veterans Day Holiday, November 11, with no school in session. Student of the Month pictures and luncheon is scheduled for November 13. Do you need to retake your photos or missed them because you were ill? Re-take picture day is scheduled for November 16th. Next week there will be Parent-Teacher conferences, and school will be dismissed Tuesday 11/17 through Friday 11/20 at 1 p.m. After school program will run until normal hours at 5:45 p.m.

Thanksgiving week is different this year, please mark your calendars, Valley Home School will have a full day on Monday 11/23, Tuesday 11/24 school will be dismissed at 1 p.m. and Wednesday 11/25 through Friday 11/27 there will be no school!

It is not too early to begin thinking about entering or being a spectator at this year’s Valley Home Christmas Parade. It will be held on Saturday, December 12 at 5:30 p.m. Remember it is a lighted parade and gets a bit nippy, so be sure to bundle up! Best viewing area is in front of the old school. Everyone should bring their own chairs. After the parade we will once again have a community potluck dinner at the Valley Home School Gym. Plan to bring your favorite dish to share.

Happy birthday wishes go out to Melissa Bartholomew whose birthday was Tuesday, November 10th. Happy birthday Melissa from all your Valley Home friends!

A capacity crowd filled St. John’s/St. Luke’s Lutheran Church here in Valley Home on Sunday afternoon for the viewing of the Silent Movie “The Gold Rush” starring Charlie Chaplin. Dave Moreno’s nimble fingers provided the musical background for the movie on the church’s Robert Morton Theater Pipe Organ and Matias Bombal offered vocal entertainment and shared interesting information about the movie. The show opened with a silent cartoon with Moreno providing a musical accompaniment on the organ.

The afternoon of Silent Movie Film Fun ended with a big round of applause from members of the audience and a wonderful musical piece on the organ by Dave Moreno whose talented fingers enticed a steam, whistle blowing locomotive to rumble out from the organ and close the afternoon of entertainment with the Cannonball Express. Moviegoers then retired to the church basement to enjoy homemade pie and ice cream served by members of L.W.M.L. and coffee served by members of Valley Home 4-H. What a nice way to end a wonderful afternoon of film fun with friends and neighbors! We want to send a large thank you to Estelle Barnhill for scheduling such wonderful entertainment for our community.
