In the heart of the San Joaquin Valley and known as ‘The Cowboy Capital of the World,’ because of its rodeo and ranching history, the City of Oakdale has remained a vibrant and growing community.
The Oakdale Leader has been a part of that growth for decades, moving from a family-owned operation for much of its history to the more recent standing as a division of Morris Newspaper Corporation of California.
With sister papers in the neighboring cities of Riverbank and Escalon, The Leader strives to bring local news into focus, covering schools, crime, the arts, irrigation issues, growth, business and, most importantly, the people that make this area special.
Oakdale is uniquely positioned in the Central Valley, with a two-hour drive east getting tourists to Yosemite and a two-hour drive west getting them to the ocean.
Farming and ranching remain the backbone of the region, with fresh produce in abundant supply.
The Leader, like The Riverbank News and The Escalon Times, are published each Wednesday.
